Herberger’s stores in Minnesota to stay open longer
MINNEAPOLIS -- Herberger’s locations throughout Minnesota will stay open until August, according to company officials.
Bon Ton Inc. announced in April that all Herberger’s locations nationwide would shutter around June. Twin Cities stores are instead projected to close by mid-August or the end of that month, depending on the inventory volume of individual businesses, officials said Thursday.
Other stores statewide are also expected to stay open longer.
Herberger’s has six Twin Cities-area locations — Rosedale, Southtown, Southdale and Northtown Mall, in addition to stores in the St. Paul Midway and Stillwater.
Bon Ton filed for bankruptcy in January and didn’t find investors to sustain the company.
The iconic Minnesota department store brand first opened in St. Cloud, founded by G.R. “Bob” Herberger in 1927.
