Law enforcement arrests three who fled Park Rapids car accident

The driver and two occupants of a white Buick LeSabre fled the scene of a collision with a green Honda Civic on Nov. 1. The accident occurred at the corner of County 81 and Essex Road, north of Park Rapids.

The Hubbard County Sheriff's Office and the Park Rapids Police Department apprehended three individuals who left the scene of a car accident Thursday afternoon.

Acccording to a news release, the sheriff's office received a report of a two-vehicle accident, with injuries, at the intersection of County 81 and Essex Road at 3:15 p.m. Thursday. It was also reported that the driver and two occupants fled the scene on foot. Sheriff's deputies, along with the Hubbard County K-9, and Park Rapids Police officers immediately began a search of the area. The sheriff's office sent a public alert through its emergency telephone alert system. The news release says that tips began coming in with sightings of the fleeing individuals.

Deputies apprehended two of the individuals as they came out of the woods on County 4. The driver, identified as Elizabeth Danielson, 27, Deer River, was located and arrested by a deputy at the Holiday Gas Station in Park Rapids. Danielson was charged with criminal vehicular operation and leaving the scene of an accident. The passengers were Shilo Williams, 35, Cass Lake and Jamie Chase, 28, Deer River. Both were taken into custody for active warrants.

During the search, a deputy stopped a vehicle that was attempting to locate and pick up one of the suspects. During the traffic stop, the deputy arrested the driver on drug charges.

Hubbard County Sheriff Cory Aukes thanked the public for their assistance and the quick response from the Park Rapids Police Department.
