Norman Norgaard, 94, of Nevis passed away peacefully Thursday, November 1st, 2018 at CHI St. Joseph Hospital in Park Rapids, MN.
Visitation was Monday, November 5 at the Cease Family Funeral Home of Nevis. Funeral Service was Tuesday, November 6 at the First English Church of Dorset. Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery of Nevis. Cease Funeral Home of Nevis in assisting with arrangements.
Norm was born on June 19, 1924 in Dolliver, IA to Peter and Dagmar (Hansen) Norgaard. He attended schooling in Hayfield, Minnesota and drove truck and school bus around the area.
On April 3, 1945 Norman married Bette Kramer and together raised four children in Austin, MN. Norm was proud that he worked 32 years for the Hormel Foods Company in Austin.
While in Austin, Norm and his family spent many summers on French Lake in Faribault, and in 1984 moved to Nevis, to enjoy his retirement.
He enjoyed time on the city council, fishing for walleye and hunting. Norm would dance every chance he could, and play cards at the Nevis Senior Center. Family was important to him. He was a dedicated father, grandfather and loving husband to his wife, especially in her later years when he cared for Bette. His love and leadership to many will be greatly missed.
Norm is survived by his children, Norman "Al" Norgaard of Nevis, Peggy Ciampi of Nevis, Chuck (Mary) Norgaard of Lake Crystal, Dawn (Ron) Anderson of Chetek, WI; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and in his last years, his second love of his life, Doris Beckerleg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bette; 1 grandson; 1 son-in-law; 3 brothers and 1 sister.
